SUN is promoting the digitalisation of Japanese language education using ICT aiming for "high-quality Japanese language education for all" regardless of country or location.
The use of online classes and online teaching resources makes it possible for students to learn Japanese at any location and at any time. Japanese children living in areas far from Japanese schools will be able to study from their own homes,allowing us to provide an "education where no one is left behind".
The benefits of online education are not only for the children but also for their parents. When children can study at home, parents can save time in dropping off and picking up them. The apps include all grammar, vocabulary books, audio, etc., and will also help reduce the cost of purchasing teaching materials.
Due to the pandemic, many educational institutions have begun offering online classes and are seeing the benefits. A report published by the Japan Foundation in 2022 on the Japanese Cultural Institute in Cologne, Germany, shows that online classes have improved attendance rates and made it possible to offer Japanese language classes to those who live far away.
